Logitech K400 Plus Buying Guide: TV-Connected PCs and USB Receiver Limits

K400 Plus can simplify control of a computer connected to a TV by combining a keyboard and touchpad. Start by identifying which device runs the app you want to control. A TV used as a PC’s display is a different setup from an app running directly on the TV.

This guide covers Logitech K400 Plus, not original K400 or K600 TV. Official US product and support pages were checked on October 5, 2026. We have not tested your TV, typing feel, touchpad accuracy or wireless range. Purchase links may generate an affiliate commission for SEFP Journal without an additional charge to you.

A PC-connected TV is the straightforward buying case

If a computer runs your browser or media app and sends its picture to the TV, the keyboard controls that computer. Check its USB port and OS rather than judging compatibility from the TV’s screen size or brand.

If the app runs inside the TV or a separate streaming box, that device becomes the host. Confirm support for an external USB keyboard and pointer on the exact model, including the app you intend to use. A USB socket may serve another purpose; its presence alone does not prove this input workflow works. We do not promise universal smart-TV compatibility.

The receiver is part of the setup

Logitech’s model-specific technical sheet identifies a USB Unifying receiver as a required accessory. The current product box includes it, so inspect a used or open-box offer carefully if the receiver is missing.

Do not assume any spare Logitech dongle is interchangeable. Verify the exact supported receiver before buying a replacement, and budget for any suitable host-port adapter you need. This guide does not describe a direct Bluetooth pairing route or promise that a TV’s Bluetooth menu can replace the receiver.

Current hardware support and optional software are separate

Use the current US specification panel’s OS list for the buying check. Older support sheets explicitly describe release-era platforms; they are not proof that every current customization app can run on those older systems.

The product page lists optional Logitech Options customization and out-of-box use. If a particular customization is essential, verify current model-specific download support on your OS before purchase. A generic support banner recommending software for supported devices is not confirmation that every model supports it. We have not tested customization on your host.

Battery life and living-room range

Logitech advertises battery life up to 18 months and wireless range up to 10m, qualified by use and environmental/computing conditions. These are manufacturer claims, not our measured results or a guarantee across your room.

Check the receiver position and the path between your usual seat and the host. Keep replacement AA batteries available if interruptions matter. Test normal typing and pointer use within an appropriate return period rather than relying only on the maximum-range headline.

Who can avoid extra hardware?

K400 Plus can be enough when one supported receiver-connected host and the integrated touchpad meet your media-control needs. It can reduce the need for a separate mouse beside the couch, but we do not claim that the touchpad suits every precision task.

Choose a different setup if your host requires Bluetooth, a full number pad or a feature you have not verified for this model. Our K250 Bluetooth buying guide covers a different connection and number-pad decision; it does not provide an integrated-touchpad substitute.

Use the official product page for current regional purchase options. Confirm the exact layout, complete receiver/battery package, local warranty and returns. A reachable listing does not guarantee stock, a fixed price or compatibility with your TV.

FAQ: Can I assume it controls every smart-TV app?

No. Identify the host running that app, then check its external keyboard/pointer support. The verified PC-connected-TV use case does not establish universal support for apps running directly on a television.
