EarFun Air Pro 4 vs 4+: Is the Plus Upgrade Worth Paying For?

Air Pro 4+ is worth considering if you specifically want its hybrid driver design, IP55 rating or supported translation feature. Keep a working Air Pro 4 if it already fits your needs. Several attractive features—including LDAC, aptX Lossless, multipoint, wireless charging and wear detection—are already offered on the original 4.

This guide helps you judge the extra cost before buying or upgrading. Manufacturer information was checked on October 5, 2026. We have not tested these earbuds or measured sound, noise cancellation, microphone quality, comfort or latency. Air Pro 4+, also called Air Pro 4 Plus, is a separate model; Air Pro 4i is another product.

A second driver and a newer Bluetooth version are design differences, not evidence that every listener will hear better sound or get a more reliable connection. IP55 adds a documented dust-protection rating; neither rating is permission to swim or proof of charging-case protection.

These manufacturer figures are also documented in the linked Air Pro 4 manual and Air Pro 4+ manual. Case totals include recharging, not uninterrupted playback. They are advertised maxima rather than a controlled comparison by us.

The original 4’s product FAQ explicitly puts its headline figures under LDAC-off conditions; with LDAC and ANC both on it lists 6 hours for the earbuds and 28 hours with the case. The Plus specification table does not give an equivalent LDAC breakdown. We therefore cannot infer the Plus’s LDAC runtime or a matched-codec advantage from the headline table. Volume, content and settings can change results.

iPhone, Android and firmware: what needs checking?

Both manuals state that LDAC requires an Android device that supports it and that iOS devices do not support LDAC. They describe enabling it through EarFun Audio’s Bluetooth audio-quality setting. Buying the Plus does not unlock LDAC on an iPhone.

For any advanced codec, check the source device and actual active connection. An earbud’s codec logo or Bluetooth version does not guarantee that a phone or computer supports the same mode. Both manuals describe connecting two Bluetooth devices; confirm your particular codec-and-multipoint combination rather than assuming all modes work together.

The current Air Pro 4 page marks Auracast and LE Audio as requiring a firmware update. The Plus page advertises Auracast, LE Audio and translation, with translation requiring the current EarFun Audio app. These should not be treated as offline, universally compatible features. If translation is your main reason to buy, verify your languages, app version, any service terms and operating requirements first; we have not tested its accuracy or established all connection requirements.

Who should buy, and who should wait?

  • Keep your Air Pro 4: fit, battery and connections work for you, and you would mainly be upgrading for codecs or conveniences it already supports.
  • Consider 4+: its particular driver design, dust rating or verified app feature addresses a real need, and the complete local price difference is acceptable.
  • Wait or check returns: you need a proven comfort, ANC or microphone improvement. These specifications cannot establish one. Check the return policy before treating a feature list as a performance guarantee.

FAQ and related reading

Is wireless charging exclusive to the Plus? No. Both official specifications list it.

Does Bluetooth 6.0 guarantee better sound? No. Your source, codec, connection and listening conditions still matter; we have no measured sound-quality comparison.

Is the Plus an automatic upgrade for existing owners? Our recommendation is to identify one missing feature or practical problem first. If the original 4 already meets your needs, the specification changes alone do not establish a reason to replace it.
