Sennheiser ACCENTUM vs ACCENTUM Plus: Which Upgrades Do You Need?

Choose ACCENTUM Plus when you need an analog audio connection, an included carry case or automatic pause and touch controls. Choose ACCENTUM Wireless when buttons and Bluetooth or USB audio cover your needs. Both advertise up to 50 hours with ANC enabled: battery life alone does not establish a reason to upgrade.

This comparison covers the over-ear ACCENTUM Wireless and ACCENTUM Plus Wireless, not ACCENTUM True Wireless earbuds. Official information was checked on October 5, 2026. We have not measured sound quality, noise cancellation, comfort or runtime. What do you get with Plus?

The official US ACCENTUM Wireless page and ACCENTUM Plus page list these differences. These are manufacturer specifications, not a listening-test ranking.

The runtime condition on both current product pages is an iPhone at medium volume. Your settings and usage can change the result. Adaptive ANC responds to changing noise; its name alone does not prove a measured advantage for your commute.

USB audio is available on both; analog input changes the decision

The ACCENTUM Wireless manual, page 27, documents audio playback and microphone input over USB from a Mac, PC or mobile device. Disconnect Bluetooth and select the headphones as the audio output/input device. Check your host port and adapter requirements before buying.

The Plus manual, pages 28–29, documents USB audio and an additional analog cable: a 3.5 mm plug at the source and a 2.5 mm plug at the headphones. Analog listening can work with an empty battery; active noise cancellation needs a charged battery. Connecting the analog cable disables Bluetooth, and music, call and voice-assistant controls are unavailable. Do not buy it expecting the cable to provide a wired headset microphone.

Check the source device before paying for aptX Adaptive

A codec must be supported at both ends. A phone’s Bluetooth version or an Android label does not establish aptX HD or aptX Adaptive support. Check the exact phone, computer or transmitter specifications and the negotiated connection. Both headphones also list AAC and SBC, so you should judge the Plus upgrade by the features your source can actually use. This guide does not promise a particular codec on every iPhone, Android phone or Windows computer, or claim that Adaptive guarantees gaming latency.

Both current product pages advertise Smart Control Plus, EQ and Sound Personalization. Do not treat personalization as an exclusive Plus benefit based on an older comparison. Check available app features and firmware for your device before relying on a particular setting.

Who should buy each model?

  • ACCENTUM Wireless: you prefer buttons, already have suitable storage and mainly use Bluetooth or compatible USB audio. Compare the actual local price and warranty before choosing.
  • ACCENTUM Plus: you regularly use analog sources, want the included case, or value Smart Pause and touch gestures. Check any airline socket/adapter separately; an analog input does not guarantee compatibility with every seat system.
  • Keep your existing headphones: their connections and controls already meet your needs. These specifications do not prove a sound-quality or comfort improvement worth a new purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Does buying a cable turn Wireless into Plus?

No. A case or replacement cable cannot add the Plus model’s analog socket, touch controls or Smart Pause to the Wireless body. USB audio on Wireless is a separate connection method.

Is Plus the better battery choice?

Both advertise the same 50-hour maximum with ANC under the stated conditions. Choose based on connections, controls, accessories and your actual price difference rather than an assumed longer runtime.

Can I order accessories later?

Check the manufacturer’s regional accessories listing or support for the exact model and part before ordering. The manuals identify Wireless as ACAEBT and Plus as ACPAEBT. This guide does not establish current replacement-part stock or compatibility for third-party cables and cases.
