Choose Flow 2 Pro if you need native Apple DockKit tracking or continuous 360-degree pan. Choose Flow 2 if you mainly film inside the Insta360 app and it costs less in your selected package. Flow 2 Plus is the Flow 2 gimbal sold with an AI Tracker; that accessory does not turn it into a Pro.
This specification-led comparison helps you select the gimbal body before choosing accessories. Manufacturer sources were checked on October 5, 2026. We have not performed a hands-on stabilization or tracking test, and do not claim one model produces sharper video or a higher measured tracking success rate.
Flow 2 vs Flow 2 Pro: the differences that matter
| Feature | Flow 2 | Flow 2 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Native Apple DockKit | No | Yes, with compatible iPhone and app |
| Pan axis | -210 to 120 degrees | Continuous 360-degree rotation |
| Selfie mirror and tracking ring light | No | Yes |
| Gimbal weight, clamp separate | Approximately 348 g | Approximately 357 g |
| Built-in extension length | 207 mm | 210 mm |
| In-app tracking | Deep Track 4.0 | Deep Track 4.0 |
Weight, axis range and extension figures come from the manufacturer hardware table; body features are cross-checked against the official product comparison and FAQ. Checked October 5, 2026. The weight figures exclude the approximately 25 g phone clamp; neither includes your phone or optional accessories.
For iPhone: is DockKit worth paying for?
DockKit matters when you want tracking in the native iPhone Camera or a supported iOS app without attaching an external tracker. Insta360 specifies compatible iPhone 12 or later models on iOS 17 or later, excluding iPhone SE (3rd generation) and iPhone 16e. Its guidance distinguishes OS-dependent camera modes and controls, so check your actual mode instead of assuming every app behaves identically.
If you mostly record in the Insta360 app, you may not use this Pro advantage. If your workflow depends on native Camera, video calls or a specific supported recording app, confirm that app’s DockKit support first. See the official third-party app guide, checked October 5, 2026.
For Android: buy for your shooting workflow
Android users do not gain Apple’s DockKit from buying the Pro. You can still use the Insta360 app’s supported tracking on either body. The Pro’s continuous pan can be useful when your subject moves around a stationary setup, while Flow 2 may be sufficient for movements within its mechanical range.
Outside the Insta360 app, the AI Tracker is an accessory-based route on both bodies; the manual also describes Live Mode and certain Samsung native-camera tracking. Check the exact phone and app. The tracker follows people, cats and dogs; it is not the manual’s route for arbitrary objects or multi-person tracking. See the tracking feature comparison, checked October 5, 2026. Camera-button support and tracking support are separate questions.
Flow 2 Plus is a package choice, not a Pro upgrade
Insta360 describes Flow 2 Plus as Flow 2 with the AI Tracker included. The body retains Flow 2’s pan limits and lacks native DockKit. Compare body plus required accessories rather than ranking every name by its suffix.
If you have already selected the Pro body, use our Flow 2 Pro Standard vs AI Tracker Bundle guide to decide whether the additional module is useful. That guide covers what comes in the box and when buying the tracker later makes sense.
Limitations to check before buying either model
- Phone fit: the published limits are 6.9–10 mm thick, 64–84 mm wide and 130–300 g. Account for the case and added accessories.
- Camera features: available lenses, zoom and recording modes vary by phone; the gimbal cannot guarantee every camera feature in every app.
- Tracking route: app tracking, DockKit and the external sensor have different subject and control limits.
- Carrying weight: the listed 9 g body difference is small; compare the full phone-and-accessory setup rather than calling either an ultralight system.
Use the official phone compatibility guide and its model-level compatibility PDF, checked October 5, 2026. A physically fitting phone does not prove every app feature is supported.
Which should you buy?
- Flow 2: choose it for an Insta360-app workflow when its current total price is meaningfully lower and you do not need continuous pan.
- Flow 2 Plus: consider it when you want the Flow 2 body plus accessory tracking outside the app; compare its total against buying those parts separately.
- Flow 2 Pro: choose it for a verified DockKit workflow or the continuous-pan body feature. Decide on the tracker separately.

FAQ
Can adding the AI Tracker give Flow 2 DockKit?
No. The accessory supplies its own tracking route; DockKit is a feature of the Pro body. Adding the module also leaves Flow 2’s pan range unchanged.
Will Pro automatically improve my phone’s image quality?
Do not buy it on that assumption. This guide establishes body and workflow differences, not a tested image-quality advantage. Your phone, lens, app, recording settings and lighting still determine the captured image.
